Swiss striker scores twice to secure qualification

Ruben Vargas has been a revelation for the Swiss national team since his debut in 2021. The 22-year-old forward has scored 10 goals in 15 appearances for his country, including two crucial goals in the team's 2-1 victory over Germany in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying play-offs on Tuesday.
Vargas' goals came in the 50th and 75th minutes of the match, and they helped Switzerland to overcome a 1-0 deficit. The win secures Switzerland's place at the Euro 2024 finals, which will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024.
Vargas' performance was praised by Switzerland coach Murat Yakin, who said, "Ruben is a special player. He has a great eye for goal and he's always dangerous in the penalty area. He's still young, but he's already one of the best strikers in Europe.".
